Last a month a bunch of household-name began teasing something named Power Trip. Fans began speculating that maybe this was the return of Powertrip the band, or at least feature Powertrip in some capacity, but nope! It’s just a massive festival named Power Trip featuring the likes of Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne, AC DCand more.
Powertrip the band has finally commented on the existence of the festival using their name, and it’s a short one – “no.” It does seem odd that a festival would directly take the name of a very popular band, especially one who fans are practically demanding return in some capacity. Thought I guess when you’ve got the kind of money to hire book Metallica and Ozzy Osbourne, taking the name of another band isn’t a concern. That, or festival organizers have never heard of Powertrip.
While there’s still no known plan for Powertrip the band to return, at least we’re getting a reissue of their 2020 live album in May.
